Here is the progress we've made so far on the kitchen.

We repainted it, as it was getting grungy, chose a new color scheme for the moldings and around the windows.
We also installed a range hood/vent, and put tin tiles up for a backsplash behind the range and under the cabinets. We did the paint treatment on the tiles ourselves.

I also sewed the curtains and we put up new window hardware!

I learned how to grout, and Doug cut the tiles and did the wood molding on the front edge. I stained. Pretty good teamwork, eh?
These pictures of the tile on the counters came out blurry, but I'll put up better ones ASAP.

Doesn't the backsplash look cool with the light on?

We got "steam punk" brackets, in honor of Amelia Evans
The vases above the range hood are from
my Aunt Rhody's antique store in Iowa.
The flowers are from my burgeoning garden in the backyard. (Bragging is a gardener's reward, yes?)

I'll post the renovation of the sink area and under cabinet counters when we finish tiling next week! Stay tuned!
